PostSubject: Material Information   Sat Dec 21, 2013 5:19 am

Material Information:

Iron: The most basic materials used in the manufacture of metal based goods, Iron is a chemical element represented by the letters "Fe." The purity of the iron in question, which is often combined with varying quantities of carbon, dictates the resulting alloy such as wrought iron, cast iron and steel. Though quite ductile and malleable in it's purest form, it becomes increasingly brittle and susceptible to rusting (due to oxidization) in direct proportion to the percentage of carbon in the alloy.

Kairoseki (AKA: called Sea-Prism Stone) is a naturally occurring (though rare) substance that can cancel out Devil Fruit powers and weaken Devil Fruit users. It was stated that Seastone "gives off a wavelength that is the same as the sea itself," referring to it as a solid form of the sea. So far the material has only shown effect upon physical contact with Devil Fruit users. Upon physical contact, the material drains the victim's body of energy and negates his Devil Fruit powers - effectively the same effect as throwing him into the sea. The effectiveness of the Kairoseki depends upon its density and composition. So far it has been shown to have many applications (refer to the One Piece Wiki Page for a list). As no references have been made to its hardness and viability as a material to forge weapons (not lined or tipped weapons, but weapons made entirely of seastone), that is the capacity in which it will be used on the site as far as weapon creation is concerned.

Steel is an alloy made from combining iron and other elements, the most common of these being carbon, and this material offers much greater strength than iron, although it is brittle in comparison. The physical properties of steel include durability, ductility, high strength, low weight, high casting ability and resistance to corrosion. Among all of the available materials, steel is the one most commonly used for mass production of weapons.

--- Black Steel is the strongest material introduced in the One Piece verse thus far and can be considered nigh unbreakable; so much so that it is said that a sword made from black steel would not bend even a millimeter if a dinosaur were to step on it. So far the only use seen for this metal has been for the purpose of forging swords of an extremely high grade, and considering the low number of them revealed during the course of the series, it can be surmised that this is the rarest material in the entire One Piece verse and requires extreme technical proficiency to work with.

(It was also said that a sword forged from this metal is fundamentally designed to tremendously increase the destructive power of its wielder. Whether this is due to the skill of the swordsmith or the material itself is unclear, though semantics indicate towards the former, which is the assumption along which we (this site) shall proceed.)

Titanium: Titanium is not commonly available and is the best material out there. It is valued most at being one of the most corrosion-resistant metals, as well as having the best strength-to-weight ratio. Due to it's physical properties, it is primarily used as a structural component on ships and various other construction tools and weapons (though such weapons would be extremely cost ineffective and would require alloys of titanium and not pure titanium itself).

Wapometal can be defined as a shape-memory alloy. This is a material discovered by Wapol in the One Piece verse when he was turning garbage into toys during his mini-story, manufactured via his Baku Baku no Mi powers. Wapometal's strength makes it a valuable material to shipwrights, inventors and cyborgs alike. As shown in the manga, the battle suit made by Franky using Wapometal was strong enough to endure an onslaught by Doflamingos subordinates, suggesting that this material is of a much higher grade than steel.

**Unavailable till someone consumes the baku baku no mi and discovers this
